See how Simon Pollock helped Tesla Owners Club Finland members set a world record for a synchronized Tesla light show. Simon produced this fantastic display.

These mesmerizing displays involve hundreds of Tesla vehicles synchronized to create stunning visual spectacles, often accompanied by music.

This recent example that caught the world’s attention happened outside Helsinki, Finland, where 687 Tesla vehicles gathered for an extraordinary light show.

The Maestro Behind the Show

The mastermind behind this impressive display is Tesla enthusiast Simon Pollock, the creative genius behind TeslaLightShows.io.

This website is a hub for downloading and sharing light shows explicitly designed for Tesla vehicles. These light shows often feature popular songs or movie themes, adding an extra layer of entertainment to the visual spectacle.

In collaboration with Tesla Club Finland, Pollock orchestrated this event to surpass the previous record of 255 participating cars set in Germany.

A Symphony of Lights and Music

Tesla light shows are more than just flashing headlights; they involve a symphony of synchronized lights, including headlights, running lights, brake lights, and indicators, all choreographed to music.

Some shows even take it further by opening the charge port or adjusting the mirrors to enhance the visual effects. Running these shows on a Tesla is surprisingly straightforward.

All it takes is downloading a custom show file onto a USB stick, plugging it into the vehicle, and initiating the show from the infotainment screen. These custom shows are crafted using a software tool called xLights, commonly used for programming Christmas light displays.

Tesla provides a guide on creating custom shows on GitHub for interested owners, with one crucial limitation: shows are limited to a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

Synchronization Made Simple

Coordinating hundreds of cars into a single massive light show might seem daunting, but Tesla has a clever feature makes it remarkably simple.

Tesla vehicles have a scheduling feature that allows light shows to be synchronized for a specific time. Since Teslas automatically synchronize their clocks via the internet, achieving perfect synchronization is a breeze. All that is required is to load the same show on all the participating cars and set them to start simultaneously.

Creating a World Record

Simon Pollock programmed light shows for multiple tracks for the world record attempt near Helsinki.

The event featured a captivating sequence that included “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Royal Deluxe, “Track 9” by KS BRa & JDJ 030, and the iconic “Sandstorm” by Darude.

Different vehicles ran slightly different programs, creating mesmerizing effects that danced across the fleet of Teslas. In total, Pollock crafted an impressive 66 different show files to map across the participating vehicles.

The result was spectacular – a sprawling field of Tesla vehicles blinking and dancing in perfect harmony. Organizing such an event on this scale required meticulous planning and coordination, making it an impressive achievement for Simon Pollock and Tesla Club Finland.
